Welcome to the personal website and blog of MTCowgirl, an expat living and working in Kosovo.

When I learned that people were visiting my site looking for information about restaurants in Pristina, I thought maybe I could share a little more than just the names and phone numbers.

You'll find some quick lunch suggestions and below that you will find a list of some of my favorite restaurants and what I'd recommend from the menu.

Finally, I've listed some other good restaurants around Pristina that deserve a mention as well as a collection of telephone numbers of the restaurants :)

Ninety-One (91 shi) - Across from Mission HQ. Excellent British Beef Burger, good sized salads, chicken fingers are good too. Favorite hang-out of expats at nighttime and weekends.
Amelie - Near OSCE, this coffee bar also serves up some of the best sandwiches and salads in downtown Pristina
Agora Pizzaria - Police Avenue or ETC Hypermarket. Fantastic pizzas and the Agora sandwich is very good!
Izzy's Deli - Hidden away on a side road, Izzy's has a handful of tables but you can't beat a deli sandwich to go! Also has delivery service.
Cantina Restaurant - Near Remember Me Flower Shop. Great food & low prices
XIX - Great pizzas, fast service. Located near OSCE. Sometimes live music on Fridays.
Metro Sandwich Shop - Across from Grand Hotel. A good sandwich shop with great green salads/cold pasta. Chicken, tuna, and egg-salad are the main choices. I recommend the chicken sweet corn or chicken salsa.
Route 66 - Next to Ardi Supermarket on Police Ave or next to KPS Station near Mitro Bridge on Bill Clinton - Love the quesadillas! Nice burgers.
Odyssea Bakery - Located in Pejton, undoubtedly one of the best bakeries in Kosovo! Try the chocolate soufflé or cheesecake!

Directions: Fehmi Agani Street #29/1 - Turn at OSCE going towards Dragodan. At the first side-road (parking area to the left, KPS to the right) you will find the restaurant on the left-hand side of the road.

Fried calamari rings with spicy tomato sauce
Bruschetta
Scampi in olive oil and garlic sauce

Recommended Main Course
Grilled Salmon with mashed potatoes
Grilled livers (not my favorite item but my liver-loving friends swear by it!)
Grilled veal chops with rosemary sauce

Directions: Ismail Qemali Street #4 - Dragodan. Across from the Chinese Embassy.

Chicken Fingers with honey mustard or BBQ sauce
Chicken Wings (Spicy but oh-so good!!!)
Jalepeno Poppers

Recommended Main Course
Chili Cheese Dogs, The one and only in Kosovo!!!
Korean Bulgogi or Kalbi, almost as good as mom's!
Chicken Teriyaki, some of the most tender and juiciest chicken to be found in Kosovo!

Directions: Rexhep Mala Steet #39. Sunny Hill, pass the UN Ombudsperson Building, first street on the left. Approximately 100 meters from intersection.

Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, home-made pasta.

Recommended Starters
Tomato, Mozzarella, Avocado Salad - Served with a little bit of creamy mustard-like dressing that is mouth-watering!
Carpacchio, served sliced a bit thicker than most places but with that creamy mustard sauce I like!
Spinach & Goat Cheese Salad
Pine Nut Salad

Recommended Main Dishes
Salmon with Dill - Cooked to perfection with just the right amount of dill sauce served on top with fresh veggies on the side.
Filet Mignon - Thick and tender steak with fresh veggies
Gnocchi with porcini mushrooms & broccoli - All the pasta is home-made and the gnocchi is wonderful!

Directions: Peyton Perandori Justinjan E1, From Swiss Casino, go straight past the junction with UNDP, IPKO & the school. Turn left with the road and follow to the end. Restaurant is on the right. Parking is the only issue with the restaurant, it's near impossible so best to take a taxi! Anyways, the bar is fantastic so best not to drive in the first place!!!

Balutini - A fish fillet stuffed with spinach covered in a creamy white & red sauce on a bed of gnocchi
Gnocchi with Spinach

Recommended Appetizers/Desserts
Salmon Tartar
Cheesecake - A generous slice drizzled with a fresh berry sauce
But one of the best things about Odyssea Bistro Bar is the last word there...bar :) The drink menu is fantastic and you would honestly forget that you were in Kosovo with the modern set-up and good ventilation! Sit at the bar and easily chat with friends over the soothing background music or grab a table for eating :)

Directions: 24 Maji Street #115. Up from the junction from Ramush's house.

Recommended Starters
Caprese Salad - A good sized plate of mozzarella and tomatoes. A special touch with a cherry tomato on top. Drizzled with olive oil.
Fresh grilled mushrooms - A special dish that is on the specials board every couple of weeks. Delicious!
Carpachio with Mozzarella - Thin slices of beef with a few slices of mozzarella on the side.
Salmon Afumicato - Thin slices of salmon served carpachio-style

Recommended Wine - Nice selection.
Different variations available by bottle or glass. Check the wine list as the prices can vary from 15 Euros on up!
Melini or Ruffino Chianti
Stone Castle
Riddoch Cabernet Shiraz

Recommended Main Course
Salmon al Folio - A generous-sized salmon filet served in a piping hot mushroom sauce. Baked in tin foil with potatoes. Tender and delicious!
Ravioli with salmon or with ricotta & spinach - Both dishes are fantastic with fresh homemade ravioli. Salmon comes with a creamy tomato sauce and the ricotta/spinach comes with a creamy spinach sauce.
Steaks - An assortment of different sauces accompany the steaks which are good cuts of meat. Sides of mashed or boiled potatoes, rice, or fresh veggies.
Spaghetti Bolognese - A traditional favorite. Comes in a huge bowl

Directions: On Skopje Highway, take the frontage road into Caglavica and continue south. The restaurant is one of the last buildings as you leave the village towards Lapje Selo.

Recommended Order
Chicken Soup - A good share between 2-3 people as a starter or as a complete meal for one. Comes in a large serving pot...way too much for one person to have as a starter! Some of the best soup I've ever had (period...in my life...ever!)
Hunter Salad - A nice mix of cucumbers, tomatos, picked veggies, cheese, and peppers.
Tarator Salad - A traditional salad mix of yogurt, cucumber, garlic, and maybe a few other things.
Mixed Grilled Meat - A good sized portion for sharing with friends!
Ribs with Cream - My personal favorite!
Pro Corde Vranac - Excellent Wine!

Directions: On Route Rat towards Gjilane, top of the hill before turn for Swebat. Right turn immediately after sign.

Tasty Italian Dishes, Excellent Service, Great Atmosphere

Recommended Starters
Mozzarella Caprese Salad (Mozzarella and Tomatoes in Olive Oil with Basil)
Crepes Ricotta & Spinach (A crepe stuffed with fresh spinach smothered in cheese sauce)
Fungi Chardonnay (Mushrooms sautéed in chardonnay wine)

Recommended Main Course
Cous Cous (traditional cous cous served with tender roast lamb and potatoes)
Medallions Calabreze (Tender medallions of beef with a eggplant/aubergine, tomato and cheese topping with veggies/potatoes on the side)
Pfefer Steak or Filet Mignon - Excellent cuts of steak!

Directions: Across from Police Station #1 (KPS Central Station now) on Police Avenue

Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, authentic Chinese cooking :)

Shredded Chicken (Can be spicy as hell but delicious! Shredded chicken with shredded carrots and zucchini)
Beef on Hot Skillet (Served sizzling at the table with beef, peppers, and onions)

Black Fungus with Chicken/Pork

Directions: Fehmi Agani Street near OSCE. If going from Police HQ, turn left at the stoplights. On the left-side of the road about 100 meters.

Fast, friendly service. Great Mexican cuisine! Big, BIG portions...served up in a plate the size of a hubcap!

Mellenzana Parmigana (Eggplant with tomato sauce baked in the oven, covered with cheese)
Fried Cheese

Recommended Salads & Soup
Tomato, mozzarella, tomato
Grilled salmon salad (not on the menu, special order for those who know!)
Minestrone Soup
Tomato Cream Soup (very thick but delicious)

Pasta Porcini with Olive Oil sauce (can be spicy so if you don't like it hot, ask them to go easy on you!)
Curry Chicken w/ rice

Directions: Next to OSCE, hidden in the trees next to the entrance of the underground parking area.

Nice outside garden for spring/summer. Excellent food, good service.

Avocado Al Forno (fresh avocado with a tomato & mozzarella topping baked in the oven)
Bruschetta (Fresh home bread topped with a mix of tomato, onion, basil, and garlic)
Tri-color Salad (Avocado, tomato, mozzarella with balsamic vinegar dressing)
Honolulu Chicken, Pancetta, and Avocado Salad - Comes in a big bowl and is a meal in itself. Not the healthiest salad...but very good!

Main Course
Spaghetti with Meatballs
Cannelloni (stuffed with spinach)
Salmon with mashed potatoes & spinach
